Prediction: Your Internet Business Will Fail. 11 Surprising Reasons Why

You’ve done the research, and you are convinced that what you have to offer is just what the world is dying to get. With visions of armoured cars backing up to your door to transfer your enormous profits to the bank of your choice, you decide that you are going to launch your website right now. While I admire your moxy, I think it is only fair that I go over the 11 surprising reasons why I think your internet business will fail unless you can address these issues.

your internet business will fail

Yesterday, in Part One we discussed not having business experience of any kind, not knowing how to set up a website, webpages, the value of an autoresponder and not knowing how to create an affiliate program.

The remaining 6 Surprising Reasons Your Internet Business Will Fail

6. Not Having Experience Making Money From Home

home based business Having a home based business is different, very different. At first it seems like an ideal situation, but quickly you will see the need to devote blocks of time exclusively to your business. You can’t conduct your business if you are constantly interrupting it to take the dog for a walk, taking out the trash or dropping off the kids at soccer. It is great to be able to work at home, but recognize the pitfalls and avoid them.

7. Not Utilizing PPC Or Similar Advertising

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is a great cost -effective way for many small to medium sized businesses to advertise. PPC companies (Google Adwords is the largest and most well known) will run ads for you that come up whenever a potential customer searches for a related term. You pay Google each time that a person ‘clicks’ on your advertising link to learn more about your product.

8. Not Researching Your Product Or Service
Everyone always believes that they have found the next greatest thing, but that view isn’t always shared by the people that you are marketing to. Rather than go through a ton of investment of money and time, it is wise to research the potential demand for your product prior to you going online.

Is it already offered in a thousand different ways online?

Can you be competitive?

What can you offer that is unique and brings value to the marketplace?

9.  Not Knowing How To Get A Client Payment System Set Up
If you are going to sell products online, you need to have a way to collect money. While you can use the services of a regular bank, it tends to be a very expensive and cumbersome process. You are much more likely to have success if you use a third party merchant provider.

10. Not Having A Way To Monitor Site Statistics

A lot of people think that all you need is a web counter to track the number of visitors to your site and you are good toGraph Icons by digitalart, fdp go. Nothing could be further from the truth. Yes, you want to know how many people came through the door. But you also want to know what got them there, what did they look at while they were there, and why did they make a purchase (or not) from your store. All of this info helps you fine tune your marketing and product sales processes.

11. Not Having A Business Blog

More and more people are interacting with their product and service providers than ever before thanks to technology. A business blog allows you to bring a ‘personality‘ to your business and gives it human qualities. Your blog allows you to answer questions and to respond to critiques and comments.  It is a great way to promote and introduce new products and to provide information. Of all the 11 surprising reasons that your internet business will fail, this is perhaps the most important. Without it you are really limiting your business’ growth potential.

Did any of these surprising reasons that your internet business will fail resonate with you?

Great continuation post Sigrid. #8 and #10 are big. Not doing the proper research on the company prior to joining can hurt you and the same goes for not monitoring your website. Bloggers should monitor their websites and learn how to take those statistics and scale up as needed. Good content as usual.

Thank you Nate. Re #8, I have seen people work so hard and spend so much money on their “baby”, only to find that when they finally have their product ready, there are very few people who are interested.

I had a tough, tough time running a home business in the beginning Sigrid.

I would work 1 to 2 hours daily and expect to see immense returns LOL.

Then I worked 2 to 4 hours, then 4 to 6, and expected to make millions.

Then I worked 15 hours daily doing stupid stuff. Made no money.

Then I patiently worked 6 to 10 hours daily using proven principles and I began to make money.

Work smart, and persistently, and you can succeed.

    Thanks for sharing Sigrid!
