Prediction: Your Internet Business Will Fail. 11 Surprising Reasons Why

You’ve done the research and you are convinced that what you have to offer is just what the world is dying to get. With visions of armoured cars backing up to your door to transfer your enormous profits to the bank of your choice, you decide that you are going to launch your website right now. While I admire your moxy, I think it is only fair that I go over the 11 surprising reasons why I think your internet business will fail unless you can address these issues.

your internet business will fail

While any one of these issues by themselves may not tank your business, it is reasonable to presume that ignoring a number of them will fulfill my dire prediction that your internet business will fail. I am confident that if you address all of the issues listed here, you will avoid that unpleasant and unfortunate situation.

11 Surprising Reasons Your Internet Business Will Fail

1. You Have No Business Experience Of Any Kind

This is much more common than you would think. Having had a job, or even a dozen jobs, doesn’t mean that you know squat about business. As soon as you think that you are even remotely interested, you should begin by learning as much as you possibly can about an internet business.

Having a business is hard work and will require more perseverance and dedication than anything else you have ever done. And it is so rewarding and satisfying as well.

2. Not Knowing How To Set Up A Website

HostGatorThe website that you put up will be the face of your business. It is the first thing that your potential customers are going to see and rightly or wrongly, it is going to reflect their impressions of you. Simply finding a free web template and loading your pages onto it doesn’t get your information online. You also need to find a web hosting company that for a small fee will upload your web pages onto a server.

Don’t make the mistake of going with a free web hosting service that will make your site look like a gaudy second hand store with tons of glitzy banners and logos. Pay the few extra dollars and use a service like Hostgator.

3.  Not Knowing How to Upload Your Web Pages

Once you have your website built on your computer, you need to transfer it to your web hosting service (Hostgator, etc). To do that you will need to use a file transfer program (FTP) that will take the data and images off your computer and move them to your web host’s server. Web hosting companies generally have good technical service if you have some problems.

4. Not Knowing The Value Of An Auto Responder

autoresponderAn auto responder is going to save you a ton of time and will simplify your business. It is absolutely essential for sequential email marketing (and yes, you better know what that means as well). It gives you the capacity to send out newsletters, updates, product promotion materials and the latest information or links to other resources. I use AWeber . They will give you a $1 trial for the first month.

5. Not Knowing How to Create An Affiliate Program
In order to promote the product or service that you are selling, you need to leverage your sales abilities and presence as much as possible. One of the best ways to do that as a small business is through an affiliate program. Essentially, it works like this. For a percentage of the product sales, or commission, others will promote and sell your products for you. This amplifies your presence and greatly increases the audience that you are able to market to. As a newbie, use a well established company like Clickbank to manage your affiliate sales and payments.

You’re absolutely right, Sigrid. Not having business experience is definitely the killer of most internet businesses. Just as you rightly pointed out. It’s important to spend some time to learn about business and get the required training needed to crush it online.

I resonate with #1 Sigrid because I learned all I need to know, up until now, by diving in and soaking up painful but freeing experiences to grow my online businesses. I did not have a second of biz experience before but by failing and learning, I am ahead of the game now. Thanks!

    Very true Sigrid,
I think that #1 is very important.
The other tools fall into place, and they are important, but if one doesn’t know how to grow and run that business, they are pointless.

Very good points, and it looks like a great series
