Where Do I Get Free Blog Images and Photos

By now I am sure that you have noticed that there are very few blogs that do not incorporate pictures, cartoons or videos to help satisfy the visual desires of blog readers. Trust me, it isn’t for the spiders. They don’t care a lot about pictures one way, or another.

However, getting access to topical, up-to-date and free blog images and photos isn’t as easy as one might think. There are a ton of free images, but you need free blog images and photos that will be suitable for your blog . If you are like most of us, there are some limitations on what you can use without becoming offensive or boring. It is sometimes a challenge to avoid both.

This is a list of sites that currently have photos and images in stock that would be suitable for blog material.

However, you will still have to search and sort your way through them to find ones that suit your purpose. Please note, these are not in a particular order so it isn’t a first to worst list.

1. Photoree.com utilizes the Flicker database for its photos. Interestingly enough, once you have signed up for the service you are able to use filters to help you narrow down the types of free blog photos and images that you may be looking for.

2. Free Photos are also available from stock.xchng which is at www.sxc.hu/  Some of these photos and images require the permission of the artists to use, while others are free. There is quite a wide range of photos and photo quality available, so some searching and sorting will be required. When you are getting free blog images and photos you have to accept that not all pics will be of a dimension or clarity that will give you crystal clear blog post pics.

3. Another option is freedigitalphotos.net. These are some very good photos, with lots of options to choose from. The royalty free photos and illustrations are ideal for business, personal and educational use. Every image is free, with an option to buy larger images at reasonable prices.

4. EveryStockPhoto.com definitely has to take the crown as the most prolific site, searching over 19,161,350 free photos on their site under a wide variety of licenses. As always make sure you have a ‘free’ photo or image before just copy and pasting it.

Almost Free Blog Images And Photos

Photos and images on these sites (dreamstime.com, iStockPhoto.com, Stockxpert.com) sell for as little as a dollar. Artists and photographers can register and post their products on here. The concept is that they will generate enough sales, even at very low prices to make it worth their while. If your blog can support the one dollar cost, you can get some very high quality pics.      free blog images and photos

Be very cautious when using the term ‘free blog images and photos’ for a Google search. Because the Google spider bots have access to virtually every website, they also have access to all the photos. So any search like that is sure to produce disappointing results that will include an awful lot of material that is a far cry from free, and may well be copyrighted as well. Why risk using them when you have so many other sources available?

Comment below and let me know your favorite and I will share it and mention your blog on here as well. There is no such thing as too many pics to choose from.

The two sources that I like to use are: http://compfight.com You can do a keyword search to find specific images. This does a search across many platforms for you…the free images are listed below the thin line. The paid images are of course listed first, above the line.

The other source I use is simply my camera and PowerPoint. I create alot of my own images because I want them to be unique or incorporate certain text. Then i can easily add our url to the bottom as well in case others share the unique photo!

Thank you Bonnie, that is very helpful. I tend to forget about my own camera!
Do you use the WordPress plug in for compfight or do you just go to the site?
