Have a Happy Day And Thanks

Guest Post By Archie McNab

Are You A Non-Father Too?

Well I’m not. I have to confess that I am a father and one of the lucky recipients of all the good things that come to dads on Father’s Day.  In the past 24 hours I have had homemade tarts baked for me, I got to go bass fishing (caught a 2 lb smallmouth), had a beer with my brother, had a hot dog roast, had my son call me and have my daughter take me for a DQ Blizzard. So yes, I am spoiled. Very spoiled. So this blog post isn’t for the dad’s out there. It’s for everyone else.

father's Day

This is for all the mom’s, the wives and girlfriends, the daughter’s and the sons who make this day special for their dads. It’s for the kids that phone back home, it’s for the daughters who make that first pie or cake or cookies for dad. It’s for the sons that took dad fishing or golfing or walked around another car show, even though they were bored to tears. It’s for the wife who made their guy feel like a king for one day.

It’s for the moms that did all the behind the scenes planning, and cajoling  to make it a special day for dad. For everyone who ever picked out a tie (knowing he would hate it), or buying a power tool with no idea what the heck it did. For everyone who ever went out of their way to say Happy Father’s Day to any guy. To those of you who helped to make this day special for me and the billions of dads out there.

Thanks to each and every one of you. You know who you are. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart, and acknowledge you for the difference you make in our lives. Thanks for going the extra mile and taking the time to spend with us. I know we aren’t always the best company, we can tend to be a touch grumpy and gruff. But overall, we mean well, and we are just trying to do the best job we can.

So thanks for sticking with us and hanging in there, and we will see all of you being nice to us again next Father’s Day. So between now and then guys, it’s up to us to do enough good things to make it worthwhile, and to make sure they are just as nice to us next year as well.

Till Next Time
